The second half saw a spirited comeback from Miami, with David Ruiz playing a key role. He drew a penalty converted by Messi and scored a superb goal to level the score. In the 88th minute, Al Hilal clinched the win as Malcolm’s header off a cross from Yasir Al Shahrani found the back of the net.
This result left Miami winless in preseason, following draws with El Salvador and a loss to FC Dallas. Messi, subbed off in the 87th minute, experienced the late-game turnaround by Al Hilal. It’s worth noting that Al-Hilal had been previously linked with Messi when he was a free agent, but he ultimately joined Miami, leading them to their first trophy, the Leagues Cup.
As part of their preseason preparations, Miami is set for more challenges, including a match against Al Nassr and Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia. Ronaldo’s availability, however, remains uncertain due to a recent injury.
